OUR MISSION

Zephyr is a bimonthly magazine that hopes to celebrate the rich history of literary and artistic achievement at West High School. Zephyr will present some of the best work from West High alumni, both present and past, covering a full century of the West Winds legacy.

OUR NAME

Zephyrus, or Zephyr, in ancient Greek mythology , was the god of the West Wind. Our magazine title, Zephyr, is a play on the name “Zephyrus” as well as the title of our associated yearly literary and art magazine, West Winds.

The first issue is scheduled to be released November 2016.

I have loved reading ever since I was a child, and have had a love of words from an early age. From 4th to 8th grade, I participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, having the opportunity to attend the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in 2011, 2012, and 2013. In 2013, my eighth grade year, I tied for fifth place, and was felicitated by the Utah State Senate. From my participation in this bee, and my innate love of reading, grew a love of words and language that I carry with me today. I enjoy writing poetry and am currently in the process of writing a novel, which I someday hope to publish.
